As many of you will be aware, we ran short of a few of our cast iron Home and Garden Features earlier in the season after unexpectedly high demand. We have, however, recently replenished our stock of cast iron statues, urns, garden benches and lampposts.
Given that a large number of items were forward ordered, we are already running a little light on mid-size cast iron urns,
horse statues and
Cougar Heads. As such, we suggest that if you are likely to need any of these features over the coming 6 weeks that you reserve them now.
Other cast iron statues that have proven particular popular in recent months have been our cockerels and chickens. Three models are now available, in both rust and antique white. Our smallest model – the endearing
chicken with feet (pictured) – retails at just £30.
Another popular animal statue that represents excellent value is our
Wolf's Head. In addition to rust, the Wolf is also available in an antique white finish. It retails at £40.

Our display of cast iron statues, garden benches, Easter Island Heads, Terracotta Warriors, fibreclay planters and cast iron urns caught the judge’s eyes at the Heathfield & District Agricultural Show on Saturday May 23rd.
Round Wood beat off stiff competition from over 200 other stallholders to land the prize for best stand. Round Wood Trading were accompanied on the pitch by sister company Round Wood of Mayfield, suppliers of Quality Oak Products and Oak Framed Buildings.
The Heathfield Show is the second largest Country Fair in the South of England and attended by around 7000 people each year. The largest in the region, and in the fact the whole of the UK, is Ardingly’s South of England Show, at which we will be exhibiting between 11th and 13th of June.
We will also be appearing at the Wealden Times Fair over the same weekend. This takes place at Brick House Farm, High Halden in Kent, with admission priced at £5.
Whilst we could never hope to display our entire range at any fair, we do tend to carry a good selection of our Home & Garden Features. Our garden statues always prove a hit, in particular our cast iron stags, hippos and chickens, but particularly popular this year was our ever expanding fibreclay planter range.

Cast iron benches are consistently popular, even at this time of the year. Nevertheless we have included them in our current promotion, offering savings of up to 30% on our entire garden bench range, (with no minimum order quantity).
Our cast iron garden benches should not be confused with the smaller models available from other suppliers. Our Gothic model, (pictured), for instance weighs in at 150kg and spans almost two metres.
The Gothic cast iron bench is the most popular in the range, perhaps because of its ease of build. It is shipped in only four pieces, with the sides being fitted to the seat, before the back is slotted in. To aid the build process, we suggest sitting the seat on a block about 50cm tall.
Other models in the range include the stylish Art Nouveau Garden Bench, the smaller Floral Bench and the classic Ornate Bench. All are cast in iron.

One of our most popular garden statues, the cast iron
Happy Hippo, is the latest feature in our range to be offered in a selection of finishes.
Only a natural rust model of the cast iron statue has previously been available, but it now has an
'Antique White' brother.
The Antique White has been designed to weather and allow the rust from the cast iron beneath to work through. As such, the Hippo’s patina will develop over time giving it a natural, aged appearance.
Other
garden statues now available in Antique White include our Cast Iron Cockerels, Chickens, Wolf Busts, Fifties Nudes and cast iron Stags, known as ‘White Harts’.
We are also offering a selection of our
garden benches and
lamp posts in different finishes, including Forest Green and the Antique White.

As winter approaches and the evenings begin to draw in ever earlier, demand for garden lighting increases. Our
1.95m cast iron lamp posts tend to prove particularly popular at this time of year given their ease of transport and installation.
Unlike our larger models, multiple quantities of the 1.95m garden lamp post can be shipped on a single pallet. There are only 3 major components which simply slot together and are then fastened with either grub screws or standard sized bolts.
As they stand at just over 6ft tall, they are ideal for lighting small gardens and positioning either side of entrances, gates and doors.
Whilst, as importers of cast iron, we do not offer advice on electrical fittings and installation, provision has been made for a lamp to be hung pendant style by passing wiring up through a hollowed up support in the lamp top.
Whilst this cast iron lamp post has traditionally only been supplied in Black Matt,
Gloss Green and
Antique White finishes are now available. Stocks of the new models are limited.
Given the recent increases in the price of cast iron and the rapidly depreciating exchange rate, the price of these lamp posts has unfortunately risen over the last year.
We have, however, attempted to absorb as much of this increase as possible and are currently running a promotion on this model.
As such, they are currently priced at £148, reduced from £185. We are also offering free shipping on orders of 6 or more.
Other lamp posts in our range stand between 2.5m and 4.2m. Click on
‘Lamp Posts’ to see the entire range.

Our most popular cast iron garden bench, ‘The Gothic’, is now available in three different finishes, with
‘Antique White’ and
‘Forest Green’ models now available.
The Gothic cast iron bench has previously only been available in
Black Matt, but the range of models has been expanded in light of demand for a wider variety of options.
Whilst the finishes on all cast iron products will weather, the ‘Antique White’ and ‘Gloss Green’ will prove particularly resilient as they are applied as a paint rather than spray.
The Gothic garden bench has proved popular given its design and build process – there are only four pieces to assemble. It is also easy to ship, despite its weight.
Other cast iron benches in our range include the
‘Art Nouveau,'’
‘Ornate' and
‘Floral' models – please see our website for full details.

We now have our cast iron bust of a
Wolf back in stock, along with several other favourites from our range.
Whilst the statue was initially described as a fox, our team of experts have concluded that the statue is actually a representation of its wilder relative. Our apologies for any confusion this has caused.
The bust is cast in iron and hand finished. The statue is now also available in Antique White – keep an eye out for the photos we will be adding soon.
Another statue available in both finishes is our fifties nude. This classic portrait retails at £34 in
Rust and £36 in
Antique White. It has proved very popular with customers who have an eye for antiquities.
Also coming up are photos of our cast iron
Gothic Bench in a range of finishes.

Several of our most popular cast iron statues are due back in stock next week, including the
Happy Hippo,
Japanese Tosa Dog and
Wolf's Head.
Another favourite, the cast iron
Cougar Head statue, has already arrived, but only a few remain after several were forward ordered.
Much of the upcoming shipment has already also been set aside. Other statues arriving are the Fifties Nude,
Virgin Mary and
Roman Lady Bust.
Also arriving are cast iron garden benches in a range of finishes, cast iron tap stands and cast iron lamp posts.
If there is a statue that you require, but cannot find in our collection, please do not hesitate to contact us as we are able to provide a sourcing service through our network of contacts.

Our
1m tall Fluted Venetian Urns Urns are back in stock, but only a few remain after much of our recent shipment of cast iron was forward ordered.
These cast iron urns, models URN002XL, have a diameter of 84cm and weigh over 65kg. Whilst they are finished in black matt, they will weather, giving them a desirable aged appearance.
The straight bell of the urn is fluted, whilst the rim features egg and dart beading. There is also a drainage hole in the base of the bell, making these urns ideal for use as planters.
They retail at £340 each, with a discount of 5% when purchased as a pair. This makes for an extremely attractive feature, particulary when the urns are positioned either side of a doorway.
We also stock smaller versions of this urn, beginning at 51cm. Our
full range can be found under the urn tab above.
Our recent shipment also featured cast iron statues, benches, lamp posts and an entirely new range of Giant Urns, some standing 2m tall. Details of these will be added to the site in due course.

It’s time for the
Roman Centurions currently garrisoned at Round Wood to move on and defend pastures new. New troops are being shipped in, so we are looking for new barracks for our existing officers.
We won’t charge for their mobilisation and we will even give you 10% off their stipend. So whilst they do always have to travel in pairs, at our discounted rate they will only cost you £1980 a set, (normal price £2200 plus delivery).
Each Centurion stands 2m, weighs over 250kg and comes with his own detachable pike! They are hand cast in iron and free stand. As a cast iron statue, the Centurion will develop its own unique patina through exposure to the elements.
Our range of cast iron statues is rapidly developing – in particular our
Portraits. There will be several new additions to our cast iron statues in our next container.
15 July 2008
We now have our freestanding cast iron
Tap Stands back in stock. As these have been unavailable for some time, much of our new shipment was forward ordered, but a small number remain.
Whilst some of the cast iron tap stands were in our new
'Antique White' finish, these have now all been sold. A few remain in the traditional black matt as well as our new
'Green Gloss' finish.
The finishes will delay the weathering process, but as with all cast iron products these tap stands will develop their own unique patina over time.
Each tap stand is supplied complete with its own stainless steel tap. These have a thread of 1 inch. The inside of the tap stand is hollow, allowing for a tube/connector to be passed up to the thread.
Being cast from heavy duty iron these are an impressive, traditional looking piece that has proved very popular with customers looking for reclamation style products.
We will be taking in new stocks of these in August, along with many of our cast iron statues, garden benches and cast iron lamp posts.
11 July 2008
Our classic cast iron
Lattice Planters are now available in ‘Antique White’ and ‘Gloss Brown’ finishes, across all sizes in the range.
The finishes are designed to weather and allow the rust from the cast iron to show through, resulting in the planter developing an aged appearance that patinas uniquely over time.
The largest cast iron lattice planter in the range measures 86x39x32cm, the
smallest 54x28x25cm.
We also stock a cast iron lattice urn, again with a classic design theme, in the ‘Antique White' finish.
We also have in stock the
cast iron lattice urn, in the traditional, natural rust finish.
Our full range of planters and urns includes models cast traditionally in iron, but also in more contemporary materials such as fibreclay and fibreglass. Popular cast iron models include the
Medici and
Venetian style urns.
Interest has also been steadily developing in the faux lead
Chelsea Boxes and
Troughs produced from the extremely environmentally friendly fibreclay.

Our range of cast iron garden benches has proved very popular this spring - in particular the
Gothic model we stock at a retail price of £390.
This cast iron bench is popular with both trade and retail customers as, whilst it is very sturdy and weigh’s in at 220kg, it is relatively easy to build when compared to other cast iron benches.
This cast iron bench ships well in three components: back, seat and legs. To build, all you need to do is sit the seat on a support, (we use and oak cube), then attach the two ends, (legs), with the bolts supplied. The back can then be slotted in for fastening.
A similar design of cast iron bench is available elsewhere, but when comparing prices we suggest that you compare the weight and dimensions of models. Our cast iron benches are large, attractive features cast in heavy duty iron.
Our cast iron benches are often purchased in pairs to sit either side of one of our
Slate Tables, or to accompany a
cast iron statue.

We now have available a '
White Hart' - one of our cast iron stags coated with an antique white finish.
The finish been designed to allow the rust from the cast iron to develop and show through, giving a truly unique and evolving patina.
This is currently a one-off piece. Several of our other cast iron garden statues are now also avaialable in the antique white finish, including the fifties nude and several of the horse statues.
12 June 2008
We took delivery earlier this week of a new batch of our 1.95m and 2.5m cast iron lamp posts. Most of the consignment, however, was forward sold so only a small number of the 1.95m models remain.
The lamp posts are finished in a green gloss paint, feature hand cast detail and are complete with a copper lamp. Due to recent increases in the costs of cast iron, the 1.95m lamp posts now retail at £180.
Photos can be seen in our
Lamp Post section.
If you have an interest in this range, you are advised to contact us at the earliest opportunity. New stocks of both the 1.95m and 2.5m lamp posts are not arriving for 7-8 weeks.
30 May 2008
A number of our popular items will be back in stock next week, including the cast iron
Hippo and cast iron
Tosa Dog statues.
The unusual nature of these cast iron statues saw our first batches snapped up in the Spring, with several then being forward ordered. As a result our new stock is already limited, so if you you have an interest you are advised to contact us now.
Also arriving will be the larger cast iron doormats, including some in white. Other products with a white matt finish for the first time will be the cast iron lattice planters and urns.
Details to follow.

Reprobates beware - there are two new guard dogs at Round Wood Trading's main facility in East Sussex. King and Kong are Japanese Tosa’s that weight in at around 90kg each and stand almost a metre tall. Oh, and they are also cast in iron.
The pair are new additions to our rapidly developing collection of cast iron statues and garden ornaments. Soon to be added to the site are details of our cast iron hippos, foxes, a new stag and even more nudes!
Obviously we are keen not to split King and Kong so there is a substantial discount for the pair. For more information and photos visit our
Dog Statues section.
