The ‘Other Features’ section of our website now details our full range of
Staddle Stones, (also sometimes referred to as Settle, Saddle or Straddle Stones), including the classic Mushroom Staddle.
The majority of our staddle stones are cut from high-end granite. They are offered in tapered, straight and drum forms in a variety of sizes. These staddle stones have a steel rod for fixing an upright column.
Our sister company Round Wood Construction use several of these models to support the uprights in the Oak Framed Buildings they supply.
We also offer classic mushroom staddle stones in granite, sandstone and reconstituted stone, (although our stocks of these are limited).
It is the mushroom variety of staddle stone that was traditionally used to raise granaries. Rats and Mice were unable to scale the underside of the Mushroom top making it impossible for them to get at stores of grain.
